Ciudad Quesada is situated on Spain's Costa Blanca region. The Costa Blanca is a 200 km stretch of coastline from the towns of Denia in the North to Torrevieja in the South. You can get to Ciudad Quesada from the airports of Murcia which is about 30 minutes drive or Alicante Airport which is about 35 minutes drive. Ciudad Quesada is serviced by the AP-7 motorway. The climate around here is typical of the region with hot summers being typical, giving way to very mild and sunny winters with very little rain. There is a really interesting story behind the town of Ciudad Quesada but more of that later on. The town is very popular with the Spanish locals and immigrants alike. It is situated very centrally located if you want to tour the area.

Ciudad Quesada is one of the newer towns in the vicinity, being surrounded by the towns of Rojales and Torrevieja each with their own particular interesting history.

Ciudad Quesada

The history of Ciudad Quesada is a very recent one, in fact the town didn't even exist before 1972. A young Spanish businessman always had a dream to build something unique in the area. That dream was not to build a huge fancy hotel to rival some of the others in Spain, it wasn't to build a theme park which would attract tourists from all over the world, the dream that Justo Samper Quesada had was to build a whole town. He achieved this dream 30 years later when the town of Ciudad Quesada was given proper recognition with the opening of its very own official town Hall in 1999. SeƱor Quesada shows us what perseverance and hard work can achieve. He started out with not much more than his own two hands and not much money. During the turbulent financial times that lay ahead he managed to fulfill all expectations.

Ciudad Quesada

For the tourist going to Ciudad Quesada, there are opportunities to relax and unwind in the many bars and restaurants. Once you go through the magnificent arch that marks the entrance to the town, you will be met with the above mentioned bars and restaurants, there is also a service station just inside the arches. There are plenty of tourist shops, banks, a tobacconist, a chemist, and some fine shops for groceries. There is also the aqua Park which is situated further up the hill towards Rojales.

Ciudad Quesada overlooks the salt lakes of Torrevieja and la Mada, as well as Torrevieja in the distance. These salt lakes of Torrevieja is still in production. The la Mada salt lake received national Park status in 1996 and is now a big tourist attraction. It is also received protection for the wonderful birdlife which resides here.
