A smoker tries to quit smoking, the first thing that he's going to ask itself is want and the best ways to quit smoking? Smoking is extremely bad for you, I think most of us can agree on that at this stage. It causes so many different health problems not only to you but to those around you. Although there is a common belief that people enjoy smoking, there is in actuality no truth in this. People are kidding themselves because they cannot quit the habit. There are several different methods of quitting smoking out there and the best ways to quit smoking for one person might be different to the best ways to quit smoking for another person.


I tried several different methods of quitting smoking before I found the answer to my own personal question of what are the best ways of quitting smoking. For me it was the nicotine patches.

First of all you must try and work out the times that you want to smoke the most. This is very important because you are arming yourself with the facts that you will need to in order to beat the habit. The actual situations where people want to have a cigarette different different for everyone and can range from wanting a cigarette after a meal, smoking while speaking on the telephone, because you are really bored, having a cigarette to help with concentration, or to help you to relax. The whole point here is to figure out what triggers you to want a cigarette and to either try and avoid those situations or to figure out a solution which will help you to deal with that particular situation.

The next thing that you need to do is to set yourself a date to give up. This is very important because it focuses your mind on a specific time, and allows you to put everything else into place. Then you can figure out the best ways to quit smoking for yourself. Do not use this as an excuse to keep putting off the date, there is never best time to quit smoking. Fix the date and stick with it.

Another tip that you can do to help yourself is to find ways to relax. Take a class in yoga or tai chi. Or take up for swimming classes or join another relaxing group. It is very important that you try and have something to look forward to which you enjoy doing. Try and keep calm and don't panic. The best ways to quit smoking are still going to involve an amount of stress because of the initial detox. But once this initial detox time has passed you will feel much stronger. Every time you feel like a cigarette remember that this feeling will pass very shortly. Get over that initial feeling and you are on your way.
